Below is a list of our completed projects;

• Construction of 57 new build houses Four Lane Ends, Bradford for Bradford Metropolitan District Council.
• Refurbishment of 2,000 properties to Decency Standard within Framework for Leeds ALMOs including new kitchens and bathrooms, new windows, external render, structural works to system built properties.
• Construction of 24 new flats and conversion of listed buildings to 6 flats at Alma Road, Leeds for Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association (RIBA Award).
• Construction of new lift shaft extensions and new lift installation at various Sheltered Housing sites throughout Yorkshire for Places for People.
• Conversion of flat roof housing blocks to pitch-roofed buildings using lightweight steel systems for Leeds City Council. (90 properties).
• New build Design & Build project of 16 properties at Henley Road, Bradford for North British Housing (now Places for People).
• External facelift enveloping schemes to approximately 250 properties, spread over 12 projects and a 5 year timeframe for Calderdale Metropolitan District Council.
• New build housing scheme to provide Sheltered Accommodation with 50 flats and public areas at Thornton Road, Bradford for Bradford Metropolitan District Council.
• Whole house refurbishment for various Housing Associations and Local Authorities throughout Yorkshire, varying in size from 10 properties to 200 properties.
• Disability works to public sector housing throughout West Yorkshire.

EDUCATION AND LEISURE – click to view recent projects

Below is a list of our completed projects

• Lidget Green Primary School extension to from additional classrooms and reconfiguration and improvements to the existing school for Bradford Metropolitan District Council.
• Scholes First and Nursery School for Kirklees Council consisting of additional classrooms, hall and library extension. Refurbishment and remodelling of the existing school together with the replacement of the external fabric, extensive external works.
• DDA works for Kirklees Council at 11 schools including ramps, lifts and formation of new access.
• University of Bradford demolition of existing Halls and construction of MUGA pitches.
• Refurbishment schemes over several years, varying in size from single room to major refurbishments at Trinity & All Saints College, Horsforth, Leeds.
• Conditioning works and laboratory refurbishments to Huddersfield New College.
• Extension and refurbishment at Copthorne Primary School, Bradford to form additional classrooms, hall and administration extensions.
• Home Farm Primary School for Bradford Metropolitan District Council consisting of new sports hall and refurbishment and remodelling of existing school.  Extensive external works.
• Flat to pitched roof conversions to 8 schools in Bradford.
• Alteration and Hall Refurbishment at Christ the King Roman Catholic Primary School for the Diocese of Leeds.
• Two classroom extensions and refurbishment at Highbury School, Rastrick for Calderdale Council.
• Greetland Primary School, Halifax providing new volumetric buildings to form classroom areas.
• Refurbishment of several leisure centres and swimming pools for Kirklees Active Leisure.

• Construction of New Primary Care Centre for Apollo Capital Projects at Girlington,  Bradford.
• Major refurbishment at St James Teaching Hospital, Leeds at Chancellor and Lincoln Wing and formation of Breast Screening Unit.
• Construction of new Boiler house and formation of small storage areas at various locations at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
• Provision of Medical Gases throughout Airedale Hospital.
• Major Ward kitchen refurbishments in two phases at Leeds General Infirmary including extensive Mechanical and Electrical works.
• Refurbishment and repair works to several Health Centres and Surgeries for Bradford Care Trust.
• Refurbishment of Wards and ‘Privacy and Dignity’ works at St James Hospital. Leeds.

Bermar has a long and successful history of working on and in Public Buildings and Listed Buildings (including Grade 1), examples are:

• Leeds Town Hall
• Morley Town Hall
• Dewsbury Town Hall
• The Wool Exchange, Bradford.
• Huddersfield Railway Station
• Keighley Central Hall
• Bradford Library
• The National Library, Boston Spa

Listed Building works also include Alma Road, Leeds (Broderick design) and Tenant Hall, Leeds (Gilbert Scott design).  Both schemes received awards.

COMMUNITY BUILDINGS AND OFFICES – click to view recent projects

Below is a list of our completed projects  

Bermar has completed many Community Buildings and Office projects for Local Authorities. Local Communities and Government Bodies.

• New build Middleton Park Visitor Centre and Bandstand for Leeds City Council.
• New build extension to form a new library at Shelf Village Hall, for Calderdale Council.
• West Yorkshire Police – fire safety works and improvements, including DDA works at numerous Police Stations in West Yorkshire.
• New Offices for Vehicle Taxation Department, Leeds City Council.
• Refurbishment of existing period building to provide Community facilities and offices at Woodhouse Community Centre, Leeds.  The Client was Oblong Limited.
• Construction of new Childrens Centre at Kirkburton for Kirklees Council.
• Office conversions and improvements at Dewsbury Town Hall, Tenant Hall, Leeds and Places for People, Leeds.

Examples of several pilot structural schemes are listed below.

Bermar has a reputation within the local construction industry for the successful completion of special and innovative schemes including works of a detailed structural nature, and has been involved in several pilot schemes, examples are:

• Thornton Road Estates, Bradford. Structural repairs to occupied post war system built houses in 3 phases (70 in total) for Bradford Metropolitan District Council.
• Structural repairs to occupied Livett Cartwright houses for the Leeds ALMOs and Bradford Metropolitan District Council (300 properties in total).
• Flat to pitched roof conversion of houses and schools throughout West Yorkshire using Capella, Dibsa and timber trussed rafter proprietary systems (30 schemes in total).
• Installation of lift shafts within existing buildings for Leeds City Council, Bradford Metropolitan District Council and Places for People.
• Complex Structural works to existing schools, housing and public buildings throughout West Yorkshire.
