Supporting Workforce Wellness

We are proud to have four Mental Health First Aiders within the organisation.

Thank you and well done to Ricky Oliver, Danny Wood, Tom Foulds and Steven Ludkin who have all  completed the Mental Health First Aider training with MHFA England one of the leading providers in the country.  It is crucial to address mental health challenges in construction and prioritise the well-being of our workers.  At Bermar we aim to reduce the stigma associated with asking for help, provide mental health resources within the welfare facilities and easy access to trained colleagues.

By addressing mental health challenges we hope to create a safer and healthier work environment.

CArbon Reduction Plan

Bermar Building are pleased to be committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2035.

For many years, Bermar has been taking action to reduce carbon emissions from onsite and off-site activities and created guidelines for travel, waste management and energy use.

Huge strides have been made with diverting waste from landfill, promoting fuel efficient travel and investing in the planting of trees to off-set residual carbon emissions.

Through a combination of energy efficiency, water conservation, supply chain collaboration and employee engagement, we can aim to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2035.  Bermar Building will continue to take further action to increase energy efficiency and water resources used on construction sites, reduce carbon emissions and retain its place as a sustainable and environmentally conscious firm in the construction industry.  We are proud to launch our Carbon Reduction Plan.

Leeds Town Hall Roofing Project Wins at the CABE

The roof restoration project at Leeds Town Hall has won the Preservation and Conservation Award at this year’s Built Environment Awards, presented by the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).

Leeds Town Hall was opened in 1858 by Queen Victoria and is now a Grade I listed heritage asset. Award Panel Chair, Lord John Lytton, noted that “this amazing roof restoration has preserved much of the historic building fabric of the roof. Its introduction of modern materials has sympathetically safeguarded the roof, and the building’s history, for decades to come. The team has overcome many technical and health and safety challenges in the delivery of this project, some of which were extremely specialised”.

All the winners and highly commended recipients of the Built Environment Awards have demonstrated that they are working on truly exceptional projects. Projects which are being constructed to the highest standards, ensuring that the building industry is delivering a safer and more sustainable future.
