Project Details

Bermar Building were appointed to deliver a major refurbishment programme at the National Science and Media Museum, enhancing visitor facilities and improving staff workspaces.

The base build package comprised the strip-out and reconfiguration of the foyer area, introducing a new reception desk and seating area, a refreshed café and shop.  Installation of a new passenger lift and entrance doors

The main staircase underwent a full refurbishment, including redecoration, sanding, and re-varnishing of the existing wooden stairs to restore their original finish.

At Levels 3 and 5, Bermar formed new galleries to house the permanent “Sound and Vision” exhibition, supported by the provision of a refurbished WC.

Additional works across Levels 5, 7 and 8 included a new staff kitchen, creation of new office space, upgrades to the air handling system, ventilation and lighting.
